A big thanks goes to our guest coach, Lizzie Williams. Lizzie has bee here with us on Friday 27th and Monday 30th May, running training sessions in phonics for both our staff and parents.

Lizzie running a training session for the parents on Monday 30th May

Lizzie provided a good overview of phonics for all our staff, both TA and teaching staff. Teachers were very engaged on Friday, and although phonics will primarily be delivered in grades 1 and 2, it was a useful exercise for all teachers to see how reading and writing is developed in the younger years.

On Monday, Lizzie went on to work with parents, explaining how the phonics program worked and informing them how they can help at home, by creating an environment where reading is nurtured and celebrated and a language-rich culture exists.

Thank you again to Lizzie for her engaging sessions on Friday and Monday!

Mr. Andrew's Under 8's day - A great success!

What a great event! What wonderful weather!

Mr. Andrew organises yet another wonderful sporting event for the students of AIS.

Grade 6 and 7 students did a very good job of getting the younger students involved in the activities. There was a great spread of suitable activities for the younger children, from 3-legged races, limbo and relay, not to mention face painting and neclace-making!

A big thank you to Mr. Andrew for his efforts, to the students and staff for their proactive approach and to the parental volunteers on the day.

Paul Klee Exhibition - All welcome

Miss Anja has been very busy and industrious in preparing a Paul Klee exhibition which all grades have been working on.

You are welcome to visit the school to see this exhibition - It is located in the large room just past the main entrance and reception, located on the right-hand-side.

If you are collecting your child, it is a good opportunity for you to go in and let them explain the artwork. Feel free to show others and take pictures.

A big thanks to Miss Anja for organising this display for the school community.

Assembly on Recycling

The students received a lovely presentation on Monday morning from Ranveig Depew, a parent in the school who works with environmental control.

Ranveig got the students to think about the importance of their role in protecting the environment.

Ranveig talked a lot about action and responsibility. She asked the students to think about how they act and what they will personally do for the environment, rather than just making suggestions about what society will do as a whole.

We would like to thank Ranveig for her time and effort. We hope we can get her support in helping us become more environmentally friendly, ideally working towards an ISO140001 for an effective environmental system in the school.

For this to happen, all members of the community need to help.
